We'll the super bowl came and went, and for most of you, You are just so pleased of the idea of having the man in your life back in your life. I can definitely understand, being married to a sports nut, I feel like Sunday is devoted to Football all fall and winter and any other night can be sprinkled with Basketball, Hockey, or in the summer GOLF and Baseball. Well when I got married I was determined to make sure that my husbands relationship with sports would not be stronger than his relationship with me.
Well choosing to make your relationship stronger through sports may hard for some women because it does mean that you will have to DVR Your precious Dancing with the Stars, Jersey Shore, and any Say yes to the Dress. (But were we really watching these things with our partners anyways?) Like I said, hard, but definitely has so many advantages and for the women who have chosen to watch sports and enjoy it, there life's are easier and even more fun at home.
For the Next week I will be posting different tips on how to make sports a huge part of your love life and make it worth every minute of it. No more fighting about turning of that DARN game because you will be in front of the TV enjoying it just as much as your man. Maybe he will even let you decorate his MAN CAVE..... but I wouldn't count on it.
Toady's tip is Choose Your Team! Of course your going to hate sports if you don't have anyone to root for. Choosing a team can be easy. This is a great way to even get HIS ideas of who is good, not so good, and don't even think of choosing them! Or you can go out there and tackle it yourself. Pull up NFL.com or NBA.com and look at all of the teams, there names, their record (how many wins vs. loses they have for the season), look at their mascots, or even their uniforms. I love the Baltimore Ravens, why? Well, I love them because they are the only team that I have ever head of that was named after a piece of literature. The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, and they have some pretty snazzy uniforms. Purple and Black. (I really like the Seahawks uniforms too, that little neon green stripe gets me every time)
Choosing your team can even be regional. We are Utah Jazz fans because we live in Utah. Everyone in Utah should be Jazz fan, if your not you better have a very good reason why you choose to be a fan of a different team (You better be from there or else your gonna get a lot of crap from everyone) This is another good way to choose your team. Go with the crowd. Don't stand out quite yet, You need to make sure you can back up why you like a team and by choosing a non regional team you better have a good excuse. :) Also if your trying to get closer to your loved one please don't choose a team he hates (like the Lakers for any Jazz fan) You might be fighting more than you wanted.
Well I hope my First tip on my guide to loving sports was enjoyable. Coming up tomorrow Tip #2. Ask the questions and get the facts. Knowledge is power especially when it comes to Sports.A Girls Guid to Loving Sports Tip #2- Know the facts

The first thing that you should always ask is about the sport. How is the sport played? What's the point to the sport. Sometimes when you are first learning about different sports certain rules may seem weird but that's just the sport for ya. Remember MEN made the rules so sometimes they just will not make sense anyways. This is great time to sit on the couch and just pick you man's brain. Besides, by asking him all of these questions you will make him feel smart, and all men like to show off there muscles, even if it's brain muscles.
Next ask questions about the game. For example why is that a 3 point foul in stead of a 2 point foul. What is a Birdie? Why did they take a time out right then? Asking these small little things can really help you understand the big picture.
To make it more fun for yourself you can find out what celebrities are dating what players. This kinda gives you your own fun way to understand who is who. For example Kim Kardashian likes to date sports stars. Her BF's include Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints, Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys and Kris Humphries who used to play for the Utah jazz but is currently playing for New Jersey Nets. Don't blah blah blah to this to you man- He really doesn't care. ( I know this from personal experience)
Now go ask the questions- Learn and have fun. Remember this is the hardest part of your new relationship with sports but is well worth it!
P.S. Don't be worried, It gets easier as you go!
P.S.S. I just love the picture cause its goofy. :S
TIP #3
Girls, PLACE YOUR BETS!
When trying to make something fun you always need to add that element of excitement. And what a better way to add a little bit of excitement than wagering your own money and your gut feeling. I love betting my hubby on different aspects of the game. My favorite bet is always I bet this player gets fouled out with at least 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter. I'm a pretty god judge of demeanor so I'm usually right.
This tip is awesome because it gets you more involved in whats going on in the game. I even like to occasionally bet online with different betting sites like betus.com to really get into it. Team parlays are hard but if you win its so worth it! Get to know the betting structure, point spread, parlays, over-under, ect. It all makes more sense once you get in there. I really feel like there is no better satisfaction than to be able to say, "I won 20 bucks on that game because I bet on the point spread."
You don't only have to bet money bet what you enjoy. Bet a date night, Bet sexy time favors, Bet a gnarly foot rub, these types of bets everyone wins.
Happy Betting!
TIP #4
Make it fun by adding your own crafts, cooking, decorating, and fashion.
Alright here you are, trying to enjoy the game, trying to get all the rules, trying to learn how to really enjoy it. Well let's face it, maybe your just really not all that into it.... It's really OK. There are other ways that you can enjoy sports and be able to spend some time with your hunk of burnin' love without having to actually sit and watch each play. This is when you can bring in your own CCDF's. Crafts, cooking, decorating, and fashion. Now imagine if you inite people over once every two weeks and cook, decorate, make fun crafts to show off and wear your favorite fashionable sports look.
First things first, When you are planning on cooking for people I always like to try out whatever recipie I am planning on making about a week before. I mean you don't want to try something brand new and totally burn it to a crisp when you are cooking for a crowd. Having your smoke alarm go off because of your not so saavy cooking skills in the middle of your totally fun hip sports night is not going to set the right kind of environment.
I recipie I Love is chicken taquitos and cilantro lime dressing.... DELICIOUS!
Ingredients:
1/3 C (3 oz) cream cheese
1/4 C green salsa
1 t fresh lime juice
½ t cumin
1 t chili powder
½ t onion powder
3 T chopped cilantro
2 T chopped green onions
2 C shredded cooked chicken
1 C grated pepperjack cheese
6-inch corn or flour tortillas
2 T vegetable oil (optional)
kosher salt
cooking spray
Method:
Heat oven to 425.
Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.
Heat cream cheese in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds so it's soft and easy to stir.
Add green salsa, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, onion powder and granulated garlic.
Stir to combine and then add cilantro and green onions.
Add chicken and cheese and combine well.
You can prepare up to this step ahead of time. Just keep the mixture in the fridge.
Work with a few tortillas at a time and heat in the microwave until they are soft enough to roll without cracking. It helps to place them between damp paper towels. Usually 20-30 seconds will do it.
Place 2-3 T of chicken mixture on the lower third of a tortilla, keeping it about 1/2 inch from the edges, then roll it up.
Place seam-side down on the baking sheet in a single layer. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray or brush with vegetable oil. Sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt on top. Place pan in the oven and bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until crisp and the ends start to get golden brown. Cool for 5 - 10 minutes and then serve with sour cream, guacamole or Pico de Gallo. Makes approximately 16 taquitos.
Cilantro Lime Ranch Dressing
Ingredients:
1 C. mayonnaise
½ C. milk or buttermilk
1 lime, juiced
1 packet hidden valley ranch dressing mix
2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
½ C. roughly chopped cilantro
¼ C. green salsa
Hot Sauce to taste
Method:
Combine mayonnaise, milk, lime juice and the contents of the packet of ranch dressing in a blender.
Add garlic, cilantro and green salsa and blend to thoroughly mix all the ingredients.
Season with hot sauce, if desired.
Refrigerate for several hours to allow the dressing to thicken and the flavors to meld.
If you are cooking these fun taquitos why not keep up with the mexican food theme for the night? Who wants some cocktails? (Raises hand and furiously waves it back and forth) I love to make maragarita's and you can find some awesome margarita recipies all over online. If you want to go even easier and enjoy a sweet adult beverage.... Go with a tequila sunrise. A little bit of tequila, orange juice, and genedine syrup and you are set with a yum yum drink to go with your taquitos.

Why not look completely hot in your favorite jersey or sports shirt while shaking up your cocktails. There are so many new cute clothes for female sports fans now that are very feminie and fun.
I might want all of these. Just have fun and make it a celebration! I love having a reason to have people over and having a reason to enjoy eachother company. LAUGH!
